Echoes of the USSR and the 90s sound like a leitmotif in every city, every corner of the post-Soviet space. The main storyline of the exhibition tells about the city and the man in it, often refers to the image of the "little man" of the Russian classics of the last centuries – Gorky and Dostoevsky, whose heroes often became beggars, drunkards and prostitutes, and the greyness of the city acquired the status of an acting character.
The central works represent a separate series of "Untouchables".(Untouchables is the common Russian name for a number of castes that occupy the lowest place in the caste hierarchy of India. Untouchables make up 16-17% of India's population. Similar communities are found in the rest of South Asia. They are considered capable of defiling members of higher castes, especially brahmins. Members of such castes lived in separate quarters or settlements on the outskirts of settlements of "pure" castes, did not have their own land and for the most part were dependent workers on other people's farms.
The untouchables were formally considered Hindus, but they were forbidden to enter Hindu temples and participate in Hindu rituals.
What is the norm? What is society? What is our reality?
Untouchables - who created these castes, and perhaps for someone we are in it? What areas of life, people, and the environment do we ourselves send to this caste?
Hierarchy is a certain method of ordering by mankind, known since time immemorial. We classify everything, this is how our brain works, it is easier for us to perceive this world through classification, methodology, cyclicity, etc. It is more difficult to imagine the multiple diversity and shade of the surrounding. Therefore, many things are simply thrown away or rejected by us, society.
An infinitely expanding and scalable picture of the world - when the evaluativeness of the world goes away, like a child growing up, inexperienced, knowing and accepting everything as it is.
