What could be more exotic than Africa, with its national, cultural flavor, landscape diversity and ancient history. In February 2017, I was lucky enough to visit Kenya for the first time, having got to the international plein air. After overcoming a long flight with several transfers and long waits at airports, I finally found myself in Lamu, a city with a 1000-year history, with a climate unique to Africa, with an interesting culture and history. Lamu is a small town on the island of the same name. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lamu City is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Kenya; it was one of the first settlements of the Swahili people on the coast of East Africa. The concentration of several historically conditioned cultures is striking here: this is the Islamic culture introduced by the Arabs; the local, ineradicable – Swahili; European - Christian; and Hindu. A vibrant mix was born in this picturesque place, reflected in the architecture and mentality of the population. Sometimes you get the feeling that you accidentally got into the frames of some adventure movie! There are moments so unusual to our eyes that consciousness does not immediately accept pop-up images. Yes, you fall in love with Africa at first sight, accept it immediately or never… When I heard the phrase: "You don't get to Africa by accident, it calls..."
