The painting series "Not-he" combines the past and the present, the elite and the mass: the aesthetics of Soviet everyday life and modern luxury goods, and thus makes us think about how much cultural memory we ourselves have about the Soviet period. For a modern person, the Soviet era and Soviet art are quite familiar and familiar, because many, even if they did not find this period, they probably watched films, listened to the memories of grandparents, stories of parents. Therefore, it can be argued that many modern people born in the post-Soviet space, one way or another, carry a certain "imprint of Sovietism", left through not their own experience, but the so-called "post-memory". The artist uses recognizable types and symbols of the Soviet era: a padded jacket, a kerchief, and "frames" them with elements of modern mass culture: neon lighting, luxury brand logos. The questions remain open, what is it – an appeal to the past or the modern post-Soviet reality? Are statuses and elitism important for all the multidimensionality of the surrounding world? It is necessary to note the wordplay in the title of the series: "Not-he", which means it is "she": it is not by chance that the series presents only female images with the duality of their daily existence: from the unsightly everyday routine to the pursuit of beauty and attractiveness.
